Summer
Lake Wolfgangsee is one of the warmest lakes in the Salzkammergut and water sports such as swimming, water skiing, sailing, surfing, rowing, are popular. Our cottage close to the lake provides access to a wide choice of walking and cycling trails in the valley, including a trail leading around the Wolfgangsee.
The hills and mountains in the Salzkammergut also offer ample opportunity for hiking, mountaineering, rock climbing and mountain biking. The best view of the surrounding mountains can be reached by funicular (to the top of the Schafberg) or by cable car (on Zwölferhorn, Katrin …). By car you can drive right to the Postalm at 1200m above sea level, and lodge there in the cozy mountain huts. In the immediate vicinity of Strobl is the Salzkammergut Golf Club with an 18 hole golf course.
Winter
In winter you can indulge yourself in winter sports: Skiing, sledding or cross country skiing on the Postalm, snowshoeing and cross country skiing in the valley through snowy landscapes, or on a superb ski tour on a remote peak.
Cold winters allow curling and skating on the Wolfgangsee or other lakes near by, or otherwise at the iceskating rink Kaisereis in Bad Ischl.
During the Advent season, you can experience the famous Christmas markets around the lake. On the evening before Epiphany white-dressed men run with their beautiful caps through the Salzkammergut: the Glöcklerlauf. The Salzkammergut offers a variety of ancient customs, publicly accessible nativity scenes in churches, museums and private homes in January.
